Correlation

Restless Dance Theatre with Seoul-based dance company Light Sound Friends

Correlation is a new dance work led by Restless Dance Theatre Artistic Director Michelle Ryan together with Light Sound Friends, a Seoul-based dance company with dancers with disability (The founding and hosting organisation of the Korea International Accessible Dance Festival), and K-Music Makers led by composer Professor Sngkn Kim (Seoul National University, the founder and former artistic director of Tongyeong International Music Festival). These exceptional talents were matched together as part of the Connect2Abilities project.

Restless Dance Theatre is an outstanding example of how artists with and without disability can work together and create competitive and high-quality artworks on the international stage. They contest the stereotypes of, and prejudices towards, disability with their innovative and provocative works. By doing so, their success and well-developed collaborative processes nurture the creative voices of artists with disability.

Supported by the Australia-Korea Foundation, ‘Connect2Abilities’ is a project that aims to connect and share stories of success that would help build professional artistic capacity of up-and-coming Korean artists with disability and empower them.

Correlation will enable us to see Restless Dance Theatre leave a lasting legacy beyond Australia.

The talk will be delivered by Michelle Ryan, Artistic Director of Restless, together with Dr Boram Lee and the dancers, as they introduce you to the work of the Company. The session will be facilitated by Dr Maggie Tonkin presented by the Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre.
